The Mental Dimension:

Most of our mental development and study discipline comes through formal education. But as soon as we leave the external discipline of school, many of us let our minds atrophy. We don’t do any more serious reading, we don’t explore new subjects in any real depth outside our action fields, we don’t think analytically, we don’t write – at least not critically or in ways that tests our ability to express ourselves in distilled, clear, and concise language.

I think it was Zig Ziggler who said:
“Thinking is hard work, that’s why so few people engage in it.

And it was obvious for Martin Luther King Jr too:
“Rarely do we find men / women who willingly engage in hard, solid thinking. There is an almost universal quest for easy answers and half-baked solutions. Nothing pains some people more than having to think.”


Sales Promotion Ideas:

WIIFM, or “What’s In It For Me”

“WIIFM” is the radio channel your prospects are tuned in to, and if you are not on the same wavelength – then you are simply wasting everybody’s time.

We talk about BENEFITS and FEATURES on the product page, understand and communicate your products benefits – and you’re getting close to the prospects wavelength.

So what is “Benefits” and “Features”
 
“Features” is what the product is or has.”
“Benefits” is what it can do for its owner.”

Your Mission Statement supposes to keep you and your entire organization focused on what “BENEFITS” you provide for the customer.

Your Mission Statement must state the organizations “Ultimate Goal”.

And the “Ultimate Goal” has to be complete Fulfillment, Joy and Satisfaction for your customer, which is the only path to complete success.

 


In “The Seven Habits of Highly Effective People” (Page 96) Stephen R Covey put it quite differently when he talks about a “Personal Mission Statement” (as opposed to our business mission statement.)

Stephen tell us to close our eyes and use your imagination. We’re going to picture a Funeral, but as we walk into the ceremony we recognize all our family, friends and business associates being gathered in the room. – And we noticed that it is our self in the coffin.

So, what are all this people saying about us?

What do WE want the comments to be?

            From Our family?

            What do our Friends say?

            And how where the man in the coffin as a business man and associate?

A bit off the track from our Business Mission Statement – but I think this one really “Hit’s home” and illustrate what a “mission statement” really is.

If you have the book you could dig it out and read the “Principles of Personal Leadership” it’s a chapter about mission statements. If you don’t have it  -  then you better buy it today.


Now to the USB and “YOUR UNIQUE SELLING PROPOSITION”!!!

I attended a sales seminar many years ago, think it was in Brisbane.

In one of the breaks we where asked to do an exercise – or game:

Walking around the room, we should approach different fellow attendees and present our product , service or what we where promoting.

The “job” of the approached guy where to reply “SO WHAT?”

We then could try to improve our sales approach in response to this “SO WHAT” and see if we could find a really unique approach.

And there you have the “Unique Selling Proposition”.

Something where people can not come with the "SO WHAT" response.

So, what are your Unique selling Proposition?

That amasingly unique thing that you do – but your competitors don’t?

The extra benefit I get by buying from your company????

Well, I guess Gold Coast WebWiz can’t do much more than this, at this stage anyway. This is nothing we can take – charge you 10 or 20 hours and supply your Mission Statement or Unique Selling Position.

These things has to come from within, preferably from the entire organization. Ideally being in the heart of the Board of Directors, in the Management – and through to the lady cleaning the floors in the evening.

We at Gold Coast WebWiz can read mission statement and questioning it – and suggest adjustments. Thus push our clients in the right direction in the development.
